Meriwether Marketplace is the online presence for Priester's Retail Store gift shop. Our website name honors a family matriarch who was instrumental in opening the gift shop.

Here's a little about our company’s history: Priester’s Pecans started in 1935 in Fort Deposit, Alabama when L.C. Priester began shelling pecans for customers at his gas station. Soon, Hense R. Ellis became a financial partner in the business and over time, many members of the Ellis family have become involved in the family business.

Today, Ellen Ellis Burkett owns the Priester’s Retail Store located at exit 142 on I-65 in Fort Deposit. Ellen’s daughter Salley, son Cliff, and son-in-law Trent all have an active role in the company and any one of them can be found working the sales floor just about any day of the week! In 2024, we expanded to our online store Meriwether Marketplace in hopes of providing our faithful customers another way to stay connected with us even if they aren't driving by.
